The Misconception of love
Patient: I do not want to live, I cannot live without my husband, I love him so much
Psychologist: You are mistaken; you do not love your husband
Patient: (angrily) What do you mean!?
Patient: I just told you I can't live without him
Psychologist: What you describe is parasitism, not love. When you require another individual for your survival, you are a parasite on that individual. there is no choice, no freedom involved in your relationship. It is a matter of necessity rather than love. Love is the free exercise of choice. Two people love each other only when they are quite capable of living without each other but choose to live with each other.
Sermons on an Airplane!!
On a plane ride back from Jersey recently I was reminded of a simple truth. God doesn’t want anyone to perish (2 Peter 3:9). I had just boarded my connecting flight back to Oklahoma City, and after everyone was seated, we sat at the Terminal for an additional 15-20 min. I assumed they were still refueling or loading bags.
